The Upcoming Fragrance Inspired by Streisand, Gucci Guilty

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Gucci GuiltyFragrance is something that will add whatever sense you want to your apparels, you can be sexy, cute, sweet, elegant or whatever else with one same apparel, just with a little help from different fragrance. It’s like every woman has some sort of obsession with fragrance. So as we also love Gucci, the Gucci Guilty is coming, the fragrance inspired by Streisand.

Yesterday, we got a sneak preview of Gucci’s upcoming fragrance, Gucci Guilty. We learned about the scent’s composition, the inspiration from Streisand and the Frank Miller-directed TV commercial starring Evan Rachel Wood. Today, let’s share the information on this new fragrance.

First, the fragrance: The top notes are mandarin and pink peppercorn; middle notes are fruit and lavender; and base notes are amber and patchouli. It smells good, but the amber and patchouli are a little much for me, personally.

The name: Apparently, Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini is a big Streisand fan. The name “Guilty” came to her while she was in her car listening to a Streisand song of the same name. Another source of inspiration for the fragrance? The cover of the 1976 film A Star Is Born starring Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. In fact the resemblance to the print ad is almost striking.

The bottle: The bottle is awesome. It’s Gucci’s first perfume bottle to feature the interlocking G’s and it almost looks like it’s hollow from the front while the liquid is more visible from the sides. It’s simple and chic, has a retro/art deco feel and would just look really pretty on top of my dresser.

The ad campaign: Apparently, Gucci Guilty’s ad campaign is the brand’s biggest ever. As you may know, a 30-second trailer started buzzing around the internet a week or so ago for Frank Miller’s Gucci Guilty, which will debut as a 60-second commercial on September 12th during the MTV Video Music Awards. The short film was shot in front of a green screen in Fellini’s studio in Rome. We got to see a slightly racier version yesterday and let’s just say you get to see more than just a couple of silhouettes undressing. We also learned that all of the tattoos are Evan’s own.

The casting: Frida wanted a girl who embodied the idea of the “Guilty” character, which is basically girly with a sexy edge (hence the “guilt”). As far as the choice of Chris Evans, whose last name happens to be his love interest’s first, they mentioned something about all these super hero movies he’s starring in; so perhaps that’s the direction they wanted to go in with the character.

Gucci Guilty will hit stores in mid-September and will include a lotion, shower gel and shimmer powder. We’re not sure on the price, but it will be tough to call this one a guilt-free purchase!

OK, that’s all we’ve got on this upcoming Gucci Guilty. And guilty or not, I definitely want to get my hands on this little cutie, even just for the cute bottle.

These Dolls Smell Like Grace

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Undercover's first fragrances, holygrace and holygrapieThe favor for cute little dolls never fade away in fashion world, therefore they’ve been made into many different productions, and as we all see fragrance bottle can be a really artful thing and is perfect to show our love for little dolls! And here comes the little doll, looks cute and noble, smells like grace, beautiful on the inside!

Some men have inner demons, however Undercover’s Jun Takahashi has his Graces. The lamblike stuffed dolls the Japanese designer invented a few seasons ago have stayed with him ever since, popping up in Undercover’s fashion shows (they sometimes perch on the shoulder of a dress), their own gallery exhibitions, and, soon, at the Diane Pernet-curated SCOPE Markt. And they were out in force in Paris last Wednesday night for the launch of Undercover’s first fragrances, produced and distributed by Comme des Garçons. The two scents, Holygrace and Holygrapie, are themselves inspired by the dolls: “Grace is the mother and Grapie is her child,” says Takahashi, himself the father of two. Holygrace, designed to evoke “elegance, soap, freshness, and poison,” is a sweet and spicy blend with pink pepper, jasmine, vanilla, and amber notes. Holygrapie, for which Takahashi aimed to capture a baby’s smell, includes ginger and rhubarb, nutmeg, sandalwood, and patchouli. Both scents come in old-fashioned, heart-shaped bottles with a bouquet printed on the inside. For their launch at Paris’ L’Eclaireur, Takahashi staged a doll-making demonstration with music from his pal Kan Takagi, one of the pioneers of Japan’s hip-hop scene and a member of the duo Tiny Punks. As Takahashi and two assistants worked feverishly to stitch together a two-foot Grace with a collection of fake furs, white teddy bear parts, and what looked like miniature motorcycle lights, the crowd browsed limited editions of the fragrance, bottled in flacons wearing Grace suits of their own, complete with curly tails, antennae, and diamanteé necklaces. Standard-edition buyers who snap up the scents at their wide debut in May will have to create their own outfits, but a video of Takahashi creating the dolls  should point the DIY way.

So this is the story, the adorable Japanese dolls come with nice scents. Well, should I say: We all love little dolls, especially when they smell like grace!

Harajuku Girls, the Cutest fragrance ever

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

HarajukuWe’ve talked about fragrances before, first the tiger one, then the Brooklyn one, so we’ve seen its elegance, beauty and fun. Then now we’re going to learn its cute energy. Ever imagined a perfume shaped like a cute little doll? Check it out!

Gwen Stefani and the lovely people at Harajuku Lovers have made you the Harajuku Girls Snow Bunnies Blockbuster Fragrance Set, valued at $150. These dear cuties are really adorable and each has its own personality. The Snow Bunnies set features Gwen’s Harajuku girls in their very stylish, wintry getup. “They’re fashion plates,” Gwen told StyleList. “G is me. Love is the sweet, organized, very traditional Japanese girl. Angel is the American Japanese girl — the cheerleader type who grew up in LA. Music is the tomboy, she’s an amazing dancer and very confident. Baby is the youngest, she likes to eat and complain.”

These cute little dolls are so interesting, adorable and smells so nice with good fragrance inside. Definitely the cutest perfume ever! And as the Valentine’s day coming in the way, this could a good present for your lovely girlfriend, maybe the best. Believe me, all girls love fragrance and these lovely “dolls”!

Smells Like Fun

smell like fun

Perfumes have always appeared to be a elegant or sexy thing to me. You know, with a beautiful fragrance perfumes really can add a lot of charm to a girl. But this one appears just different, feels like full of energy and fun, perfect for a sports meeting or a picnic or other open-air activities, and maybe also a party night.

This unique perfume was presented by the New York based luxury fragrance maker, Bond No.9. It’s called the Bond No.9 Brooklyn. Brooklyn is a bright, medicinal-tinged fragrance (that would be the juniper berry talking) with a peppery geranium heart over a base of guaiac-smoothed cedar and new blonde leather.

Void of any reference to Brooklyn as run-down and dirty, save for the graffiti sprayed bottle, which is striking from a design perspective — Miss Whoever You Are writes that the bottle design “truly captures the essence of Brooklyn; the edgy, cool, yet laid back feel” — Bond No. 9’s Brooklyn is a gentrified borough with condos, organic produce markets and a Starbucks on every other corner.

A smart choice for wear on beastly, humid summer days in the city. The usual Bond No. 9 complaint of “This doesn’t last near long enough!” applies, and for the high prices the brand charges, the complainers have a point.

Well, whatever I do like it, for it’s so lively, and I also think it would be refreshing in the summer heat. And by the way, Bond No.9 needs a public relations intern. This would be an excellent opportunity to grow within the public relations field and learn the ins and outs of the beauty and cosmetic industry.
