Naomi Campbell Teamed Up With Dolce & Gabbana for Charity

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Naomi Campbell and Dolce & Gabbana Design T-Shirts for CharityCharity is one of the hottest topics in fashion, and a very good one too. The fashion world seems to have made a lot from the society, so it seems that everyone do look forward to the celebrities to show their kindness in charity and to take their responsibility too. So it is really breaking news that fashion world always teams up for charity, and this time Naomi Campbell and Dolce & Gabbana design T-Shirts for charity. Despite my personal feelings about the supermodel (and it’s really nothing), this is really great news.

Naomi Campbell and Dolce & Gabbana have collaborated on a collection of 14 T-shirts for charity. Each tee has an image of the supermodel that was captured by some of the most acclaimed fashion photographers, like David La Chapelle, Patrick Demarchelier, Steven Meisel and Paolo Roversi to name a few.

Fashion for Relief is Campbell’s charity, and it raise funds whenever an urgent need arises globally. This organization mobilizes the fashion industry from within to help society at large. You can get a signed tee from the supermodel at Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th at Dolce & Gabbana’s Madison Avenue store in New York City. They will be sold for $200 each, but remember that the proceeds will go to a worthy cause.

I love the tees and the gift wrap is so nice and sweet, and it’s for charity! We love fashion all the way, and we love it even more when it comes to charity!

Born HIV Free

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Jean Paul Gaultier Designs T-Shirt for CharityCharity is always a nice topic in fashion, and it’s nice thing. So we can always hear that fashion world cares for the weak, and we see lots of beautiful clothes designed for charity. And as we all care about the HIV kids, so here’s Jean Paul Gaultier to design t-shirt for charity.

Jean Paul Gaultier has designed a limited-edition T-shirt for the Born HIV Free campaign. The Global Fund’s new campaign is aimed at getting out the message that “… no child should be born with HIV…,” says Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Bruni-Sarkozy is not only the First Lady of France, she is also the ambassador for the charity. It makes perfect sense that she would be the face of the campaign, and she urges us to get involved in a public service announcement.

Let’s face it, the tee is pretty awesome, and the cause, life-saving. This is totally a good thing, hopefully this will really do some help to the kids.

The Ambition of Gap is 7Days a Week

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

three new Gap jeansWe love Gap, for it’s affordable, comfortable, and quite street chic. However we don’t usually wear Gap to the office, they’re more like the weekend outfits, and they did a really great job for that. But now we have realized that the Gap’s ambition is “daily”, Gap wants to dress you seven days a week!

Don’t expect those funny, day-of-the-week panties, but The Gap wants to dress you seven days a week. ”I’ve been talking about making the brand work for seven days a week,” Patrick Robinson tells StyleList. “Where Gap was based in Friday, Saturday, Sunday before, elevating the (design of the) denim and the tops is really giving it a seven day a week feel.”

Robinson, who has been Gap’s executive vice president of global design for just two years, has been working to elevate the design for this household name. On Friday, he met with editors at Mialino in New York’s Gramercy Park Hotel to discus the evolution of Gap’s jeanswear. “We’re even doing super-skinny for men in Europe,” he adds with a laugh.

But back to the evolving concept, “We’re starting now. This is the next evolution of Gap for me,” Robinson continues. “If you’re going to wear Gap on a date, wear Gap to dinner, wear Gap to work, you need clothes that are elevated in a very clean, modern, sexy way.”

And coming next month, Gap’s now take on pants. Remember khaki? And how do you like the three new jean styles showed in the photo up there? I quite like them indeed.

Collaboration for Tees

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Ellen HarveyOK, everyone loves t-shirts, for they’re casual, beautiful and versatile. So almost anytime in a year we’d love to wear tees, soft and comfortable, with gorgeous decorations. If you love tees like I do, then here’s great news: Adam Lippes collaborates with Whitney artists and Gilt sells the results.

I spent last night at Adam Lippes’ fabulous penthouse apartment in Greenwich Village. The occasion? We (and when I say we, I mean myself plus a very smart-looking crowd, including Meredith Melling Burke, lovely in an pleated pumpkin-colored maxi dress) were invited to celebrate Lippes’ t-shirt collaboration with four young artists selected by the Whitney–Matthew Brannon, EV Day, Ellen Harvey and Phoebe Washburn. The tees, $48-$68, will go on sale this Thursday at noon on Gilt.com.

Guests mingled amongst the Dash Snows and the Alexander Calder (I only saw one, but there may have been more), admiring Lippes’ cool collection of art, as well as the t-shirts these four artists had designed for his brand. Brannon, who was there to celebrate, got to see his work shown off by the waitstaff. All in all, it was a lovely evening for a lovely cause: A percentage of the sale’s proceeds will go to the Whitney Museum of Art, where Lippes is a co-chair.

The tees will also be on sale at the ADAM boutique and the Whitney store, but for a higher price. Per usual, it’s worth logging onto Gilt if you want to get your hands on one. Hope you all like these gorgeous tees.

Toy Story on Tees

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Animation movies are really popular these days, good for Disney, and now good for fashion too. Since we always know that animations are more appropriate to make peripheral products, fashion products. So the good news comes with the release of the film “Toy Story 3″ is that: Jonathan Saunders and Costello Tagliapietra Design Tees for Toy Story 3.

If your first thought when you saw this was “huh?” don’t worry, it was our first reaction, too.

But it’s true: Disney has gone designer. Jonathan Saunders, Costello Tagliapietra, Victor Glemaud, Henry Holland, and Cassette Playa have each designed a tee based on a Toy Story 3 character just in advance of the film’s release today.

It’s high brow fashion for a low brow flick. But if these (awesome) tees can help some fashion darlings reach Disney’s mass market, more power to them. The tops are $70-$108 at RevolveClothing.com.

So are you a Buzz, Rex, or Woody? Me? I pretty much love them all, if I have to pick just one favorite, it’s Jessie I guess.

Zara’s Again Troubled in Copyright

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Betty vs ZaraMassive retailers in fashion like Zara, H&M are really popular these days, for their quite fashion designs and for the relatively low price, but as fashion goes so fast nowadays, it appears that someone has just lost the passion for original design. Zara is again troubled in copyright. Well, here’s the news:  Zara created in the likeness of Betty the blogger.

This weekend personal style blogger Betty, from Le Blog de Betty, posted a picture of a Zara t-shirt that appears to have an illustrated version of her likeness on it. If we were her, we’re not sure if we’d be flattered or disturbed.

It’s undeniable that the illustration on the tee shirt was drawn from the photo of Betty. The Zara artists didn’t bother to change any details, from the hair, the denim vest, the peace sign, to the sunglasses. The most notable difference, and only, is the heart pattern that has replaced the logo on the giant cup.

Zara is not new to copying, this Miu Miu-esque cat print romper will prove. Copying Miu Miu is one thing, but why Zara would copy a photo of a blogger and turn it into a mediocre illustration–and honestly, kind of weird–t-shirt is beyond our understanding.

If Zara wants to get in on the blogger trend, why don’t they try building a Web site that’s easier to use, thereby allowing fashion-bloggers to easily scan the site and share their favorites with the world?

Well, I really don’t know what to say, just kinda hope that the fashion world put more attention to the real thing that matter in fashion–the Design! Anyway, we just can’t rely too much on massive retailers I guess. I mean I’m OK with that they copy some high fashion design and make a little changes to put them on market at a lower price, but this t-shirt isn’t fashion and is nothing about designer, really disappointing.

Domenico Vacca Denim is Something Different

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Domenico Vacca DenimDenims are really hot lately, literally everyone has got some denim jackets or jeans, and almost every designer house which makes clothing has got some denim apparels to show us. So we all know denims works these days, and although we’ve got quite a lot of denims we’re still looking for new ones, different ones.

Well, here’s some information for you: Domenico Vacca’s new denim collection is out now.

Before heading over to the launch event for Domenico Vacca’s new denim line, I did some Googling.

Unfortunately, the photos unearthed made me a bit skeptical. The button flies, rips here and there, washed-out whiskers, gold ‘DV’ logo–which is suspiciously similar to the DvF logo–on every seam…seemed like, frankly, a bit too much. But Edmund Hon tried to change my mind.

Hon, VP of marketing for the new denim line, guided me through the collection, explaining every detail on each of the ten men’s styles (sorry ladies–women’s won’t debut until spring 2011). “The collection is really about translating Domenico’s suits into denim,” Hon told me. The sartorial stitching, the shirt fabric lining in the waists, and the “handmade with love” tag inside of the fly are all signatures of a Domenico Vacca suit. Which makes the collection feel really well-connected to the brand as a whole.

As for the dreaded back pockets–where most flashy denim designers go awry–DV denim keeps it clean and simple with a pretty amazing folded pleat.

With prices starting at $345, Vacca is positioning himself well above favored men’s blue jean brands like Rock & Republic, Diesel, and True Religion. Will denim fans bite? Maybe, especially if they’re suckers for celebrity tie-ins. Indeed, several styles are named after Vacca’s famous friends, including Jeremy Piven, Forest Whitaker, and Mickey Rourke.

Well, anyway you might want to check out this new line of denim, they might not be too glamorous, but definitely made of high quality, and if you love Domenico Vacca suits, you will have to check them out, seriously.

Fancy dress not just for party girls

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Zac PosenCheers, girls! Zac Posen has just released its Target Lookbook! Though we’re not able pick one by now, we can at least look at these pictures, and this is really enjoyable, and to some extent really good for fashion girls, cause you now have enough time to choose which ones you love for the best and longest.

The collection’s 100% Zac, made for a woman who likes to dress up, but might not have a red carpet to walk every other week. So basically, they’re made for us!

It’s mostly dresses, highlights include a sleeveless floral mini with a massive side bow ($74), a well-cut purple polka-dot number with thick seams ($39), and the red long printed gown($69). Swimsuits come in gold lame ($40) and tie dye (so do tees), skirts are basic black in flouncy cuts ($40) and Zac’s even included a slim black suit ($90).

Really eye-poping dresses, and the best thing is you can wear it on most of occasions, they’re fancy and gorgeous but not solemn, so the cost is actually little and the use for us is much more wide, since we might not like to go to parties so often, and we love shopping and sometimes wandering on the street. However, you’ll have to wait until April 25th to buy it, nevertheless take your time to choose a perfect one for you, choose well, no need to rush!

Comfortable & Stylish, Banana Republic Denim

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Banana RepublicEver after the gold rush period jeans have become incredibly fashionable, almost everyone has at least a pair of jeans. However today’s jeans are a lot different from those of the old times, the style become more and more stylish, and the cloth materials have getting more and more soft and comfortable. The fashion of jeans just keeps rolling on!

Banana Republic’s launched a new denim collection to match their shiny new Broadway flagship. The jeans range from classic dark skinnies to pre-wrinkled slouchy boyfriends. There’s a 70s looking lightweight cut with a slight flare that hits a little higher than usual, and made my legs look significantly longer. They’ve included an easy boot cut and a slouchy skinny that should be avoided if you’re less than 5’10”. They range from $89 to $99 which is slightly more than the Madewells and Gaps I’ve been favoring of late, but they’re significantly softer. Denim this soft – I took home the boyfriends – usually comes with a $200 price tag. So, really affordable.

Jeans are the most worn pants for many years, for they’re really stylish and easy to manage, almost the most easy going cloth! We just love them so much that can’t stop buying new ones. Hope you enjoy these new ones launched by Banana Republic.

hair shirt

When I first saw these t-shirts I was really shocked, that’s really a good idea and  actually useful to girls lately, for fashion girls always want to change their hair styles and even hair length. With these t-shirts you’ll never be bored with your hair any more!

Having long hair is some sort of  many girl’s dream, (althogh sometimes we do admire efficient neat short hair).  Inspired by some friend, who wished to own long and thick hair, a Japanese designer implemented  hair graphics printed on t-shirt to produce visual effects of extending hair length and volume.  This t-shirt series is designed to help girls achieve their wishes through an easy and fun way. And you can always change your hair style simply by buying a new t-shirt!

And here’s another amazing thing about these t-shirts, according to the designer these shirts are all painted with “Pigment Textile” , an Environmental Friendly Ink from Japan. So why waste your money buying periwig? Just buy a special t-shirts and I’ve done one good thing for the earth!
